In Salvador de Bahia is the church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. Built in 1745, is one of the places of pilgrimage busiest in the country: people come to pray to get a job or a cure, or thank the Lord for miracles attributed to him. It manufactures and sells ribbons of all colors, labeled: Lembraça do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia (Remember the Good Lord help of Bahia).
According to tradition, a friend should offer you good luck and attach it to your right wrist in two rounds to three knots, and you make three wishes, each node symbolizing a wish, wishes not for yourself but for others, and when the ribbon falls, all your wishes come true.
